
REPAIRS TO WACS SUBMARINE CABLE FAULT UNDERWAY
- On 28 March 2020 a fault was reported on the West African Cable System (WACS) linking South Africa to Europe between Seixal, Portugal and Highbridge in England.
- A cable repair vessel, the Ile D’Aix is currently on site attending to repairs. It is anticipated that the cable fault should be repaired by 03/
- As a result of this outage, Angola Cables, a member of the WACS consortium, is ensuring connectivity, continuity and global interconnection through its redundant network using the South Atlantic Cable System (SACS)
Where has the fault occurred?
A cable break on the West African Cable System (WACS) was reported on 28 March 2020. The fault is a Tata owned section of cable located between Seixal, Portugal and Highbridge in the UK.
How long will the fault take to be repaired?
The repair vessel, the repair vessel Ile D’Aix was dispatched to the area and is currently at the location attending to repairs. It is anticipated that the cable fault should be repaired by 03/04.
